Memorial Day Hike

Monday we went for a hike and found an awesome trail, from what we could see there is a cabin on the mountain in the back of us, we couldn't see it to well but it looked as if it were an old miners cabin. We are going to get our packs ready and check it out in the next couple weekends. Abby is getting to be a pretty good hiker. Oh course Dad had magic water that made her really tough and Mama found " flower power" pretty wild flowers. It's amazing, she would hold them and start running up the hill. What ever works.... right? We had a dutch oven cook up and I was in charge of dessert and bread and the bread was a total flop. I have never messed up bread that bad before!! The peach cobblers was pretty good, but I need some more practice. Note to self..... DON"T TRY NEW RECIPES WHEN YOU REALLY NEED THEM TO WORK!!

Mule Days Parade

I thought this was real funny. What creative parade entries they have using Jack Ass's LOL

So next to the Clydesdale I'll take one of these, Oh my, they were striking!! Oh yes, and from the great state of TEXAS!!! Oh how I miss TEXAS.

This was the 20 mule team and amazing to watch when they turn the mules towards the back actually jump over the ropes to keep them all in line and then straighten themselves back up. Who said mules were dumb? From what I saw they were pretty stinkin' smart.... stubborn maybe......

This was Abby's favorite, she said "Mama, Mama, hurry take a picture of that one, I LOVE IT!!"

Memorial Day Weekend

We made it through Memorial weekend. Nick left for Afghanistan last Monday, it's a very humbling experience to remember those that have fought for our freedom with one of our own heading to war. Words can not express how thankful I am for our fore fathers who have made it possible for us to live as we do. I hope and pray that our Marine makes it home safe, I pray that he know how much we love him here at home and how proud we are of him for his willingness to service our country and preserve our freedoms.
With our flag flying high we headed to Bishop for their Mule Days celebration. We went to the parade which I LOVE, it's all horse, mules, donkeys and good ole cowboys and cowgirls. What better way to celebrate Memorial Day!! These are my absolute favorite.... The Budweiser Clydesdale's. Aren't they beautiful.. I told Lance I wanted a Clydesdale and he his response was.... "do you know how much it takes to feed one of those?"...... LOL I can dream can't I?

The mule version of a Clydesdale.... maybe I could do with a half Clydesdale.... LOL

Daddy and his girl watching the parade. When we got home Abby played pack mule for hours. It was pretty cute watching her pack her cart full of stuff and pull it around with a rope.

This was the only clown she liked. I think she takes after uncle Stephen and is a bit afraid of CLOWNS!!

Gabrins Turkey Hunt

We had a great time, hunting together.
Gabrin shot a huge bird. His beard was
9 1/4 Inches and the Spurs were 1 1/4 inches long. HUGE BIRD!!! Turkey hunting is one of our favorite types of hunting. Gabe made a great shot on this bird, shooting him at around 50 yards away. You can tell he has spent a lot of time hunting. He is very sneaky and knows when to let the bullets fly.

Linda's First turkey

We had a ton of fun on the turkey hunt. I shot him right in the head, just like I planned. He folded up into a little ball when I shot him. I loved hunting with Gabe. He is so patient and helps me learn. I love spending time with him, and have learned to enjoy hunting since that is his favorite thing to do.
